Becher Townshend

Becher Townshend is a communications and campaigning professional. As the Managing Director of Font PR, he has secured millions of dollars in support for airports, irrigation schemes and air ambulances, avoided damaging communications disasters, saved aged care facilities and so many things in between.
Becher is the host of FontCast, a Director and co-owner of Font Publishing which includes the Tasmanian Country, the Tasmanian Business Reporter and a number of community papers as well as being a Director and co-owner of Enterprise Marketing Research, Tasmania’s leading market research and polling company.
As an eight year old boy, Becher started his first job with a paper round delivering the Saturday Evening Mercury and his passion for the media and politics has continued into adult life, working as State Political Journalist at Southern Cross Television and The Advocate Newspaper and now as a public relations professional at Font.
While communications has been revolutionised by social media, the core principal of sound advice nuanced for each medium continues and Becher works with business, the community sector, government business enterprises and local government on for-crisis media, communications strategies, reputation management, government relations, stakeholder management as well as media training.
Becher was recognised by his peers winning Media Entertainment and the Arts (MEAA) Awards for Excellence in Business and Tourism Reporting and has since won Public Relations Institute of Australia (PRIA) awards for Crisis Management and Campaigning Skills as well as a Commonwealth Bank Small Business Award.
Becher has a BA in Politics and Administration from UTas, is a Fellow of the Communications and Public Relations Australia and serves on the boards of the Tasmanian Small Business Council and Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
